What Does the Disk Warning Email Mean?

If you have received an email with the subject "Disk Warning," it means our proactive, automated monitoring system has detected early signs that a disk in your server may be at risk of failing in the future.

Impact and risk level

This is a non-critical, preventative alert.

  • What it means: The disk has not failed, and your server is still operating.

  • What it's for: This warning gives us a valuable opportunity to replace the disk before it fails, preventing potential data loss and unexpected downtime.

Action required from you

The action you need to take depends on your server's storage configuration.

1. For Servers with a RAID Configuration: If your server has a redundant RAID setup, we can often perform a "hot-swap" of the failing disk with no downtime. However, we still require your confirmation to proceed.

2. For Servers without RAID (Single Disk): If your server does not have a redundant disk configuration, you are responsible for your data. Before we can replace the disk, you must back up and move your data off the server.
