HPC Servers
Single-tenant high performance computing infrastructure designed for high-density computation, AI training, and scientific modeling.
A High-Performance Computing (HPC) server is not simply a standard dedicated server with a better processor. It is a machine engineered to eliminate bottlenecks during intense parallel processing. In standard hosting, the priority is often web traffic or database queries; in HPC, the priority is sustaining maximum FLOPS (Floating Point Operations Per Second) without thermal throttling or memory saturation. These servers are built to handle workloads that would stall standard infrastructure, such as genomic sequencing, financial modeling, and Large Language Model (LLM) training.
At NovoServe, we define HPC by the balance of its components. It requires high core-count CPUs (AMD EPYC or Intel Xeon Scalable) working in tandem with massive pools of Error-Correcting Code (ECC) memory and NVMe storage attached directly to the PCIe bus. When you rent an HPC server from us, you are securing a physical chassis dedicated entirely to your workload. There is no hypervisor layer stealing cycles, and no resource contention from other users.
Our infrastructure is housed in Tier-III data centers across Europe and North America, connected by a massive global backbone. This ensures that even when you are processing petabytes of data, your ability to ingest and export that data remains fast and reliable. Whether you need a single high-density node or a multi-rack cluster connected via private switching, we provide the raw iron required to solve complex problems.

Strengths of NovoServe HPC infrastructure
Here's why our "HPC servers" are truly high performance computing.
High-density CPU compute
We do not rely on consumer-grade silicon. Our HPC inventory is built on enterprise platforms. We offer Intel Xeon Scalable processors for workloads that require specific instruction sets like AVX-512, and AMD EPYC (Genoa/Bergamo) processors for raw parallelism. We can deploy systems with incredibly high densities—offering 32, 64, 128, or even 256 physical cores in a single server.
Enterprise GPU acceleration
For AI training, transcoding, and scientific simulation, the CPU is often just the conductor—the GPU is the orchestra. We stock a diverse range of accelerators to match your budget and performance needs. This includes NVIDIA data center cards (Tesla series, A100, H100, L40S) for CUDA-accelerated workloads, as well as AMD Instinct and Gigabyte solutions. These cards feature High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) and are interconnected.
Massive ECC memory
In HPC, running out of memory means swapping to disk, which kills performance. We equip our servers with premium DDR4 or DDR5 ECC memory. Error Correcting Code (ECC) is non-negotiable for scientific calculations; it detects and fixes single-bit memory errors that could otherwise corrupt a week-long simulation. Our configurations are highly scalable, ranging from 512GB up to 2048GB (2TB) of RAM per server.
NVMe Storage
Standard spinning Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) generally disqualify a server from being considered "HPC" unless they are used strictly for cold archival. The Input/Output (I/O) requirements of high-performance workloads demand NVMe storage connected directly to the PCIe bus. We utilise enterprise-grade NVMe SSDs (up to 7.68TB per drive) to deliver hundreds of thousands of IOPS.

Workloads requiring high performance computing
Artificial intelligence training
Training Large Language Models (LLMs) or Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) requires matrix multiplication capabilities that standard CPUs cannot handle efficiently. Our HPC servers with NVIDIA H100 or A100 GPUs provide the tensor cores necessary to reduce training time from months to weeks or days.
Scientific simulation
Fields like Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), molecular dynamics, and weather forecasting rely on floating-point calculations. These jobs require high memory bandwidth and massive CPU core counts to simulate physical interactions. Our AMD EPYC servers are optimized to handle these multi-threaded simulations without throttling.
High-frequency trading
In the financial sector, latency is money. Fintech workloads require high clock speeds and ultra-low latency networking. Our HPC servers in the New York data center are physically close to major financial exchanges, and our network is optimised to shave milliseconds off trade execution and data analysis.
All about HPC servers
What is a HPC server?
In the context of bare metal hosting, an HPC server is a machine specifically configured to prioritise computational throughput and memory bandwidth. While a standard web server might focus on efficient power usage or simple request handling, an HPC server is built to run at 100% load for extended periods. It typically features multi-socket motherboards to support dual processors, high-speed interconnects for GPU communication, and significantly faster RAM (DDR5) to keep the CPU fed with data. The goal of an HPC server is to reduce the "time to solution" for complex mathematical calculations or data analysis tasks.
What makes a dedicated server an HPC server?
The distinction lies in the component density and architecture. A standard server might run a single 8-core CPU and 32GB of RAM. An HPC server, by contrast, frequently utilises processors with 64, 96, or 128 cores per socket (such as the AMD EPYC Genoa or Bergamo series). Crucially, the supporting hardware must match this power. It requires ECC memory to prevent data corruption during long calculations, and NVMe storage that bypasses the SATA controller to communicate directly with the CPU via PCIe lanes. If the network or storage cannot keep up with the processor, it is not true High-Performance Computing.
Can I rent high performance computing servers from you?
Yes. We specialize in renting out these exact HPC configurations on a monthly basis. You do not need to invest the capital expenditure (CapEx) to buy hardware like NVIDIA H100s or AMD EPYC chips. You simply rent the server from us, and we handle the power, cooling, network, and hardware maintenance. You get full root access to the machine, allowing you to install your preferred Linux distribution, hypervisor, or clustering software (like Kubernetes or Slurm) to manage your jobs.
What is High Performance Computing?
High Performance Computing refers to the practice of aggregating computing power to solve problems that are too large for standard computers. In a business context, this usually means clustering multiple servers together to work as a single supercomputer, or using a single "fat node" with massive resources. It is used for tasks that require massive parallel processing, such as weather forecasting, rendering 3D animation, training AI models, or analyzing big data sets in real-time.
How to configure an HPC server?
Configuration depends entirely on your specific bottleneck. If your workload is CPU-bound (like compiling code or physics simulations), you should maximise core count—we offer dual-socket systems providing 128 to 256 physical cores. If your workload is Memory-bound (like in-memory databases or large simulations), you should prioritise RAM capacity and speed; we support configurations from 512GB up to 2TB of DDR4 & DDR5 memory. For AI and Rendering, the CPU is secondary to the GPU; you would select a chassis that supports 4x or 8x GPUs. If you are unsure, our infrastructure team can review your workload requirements and recommend a balanced build.
Can I request a free trial of your HPC server?
Yes, this is possible. Because high-end HPC hardware (especially GPU servers) is in high demand and carries significant operational costs, we require a first introduction talk to understand your project and legitimacy. If you have a sufficient reason to use the trial (e.g. you would like to test our connectivity beforehand), please speak to our sales team to arrange a free trial.
How much do high performance computing servers cost?
The price varies significantly based on the components. A basic entry-level compute node might start around €100-€200 per month. However, a fully loaded HPC node with dual AMD EPYC processors, terabytes of RAM, and enterprise NVMe storage can range into the thousands of euros/dollars per month. Since we own our hardware and operate our own network, we can often offer more competitive pricing than public cloud providers and other bare metal providers. You can check our webshop for live pricing or ask for a custom quote for clustered setups.
