What Is BYOIP?

Bring Your Own IP (BYOIP) refers to the ability to use your own IP address space with a third-party hosting provider or cloud infrastructure. Instead of relying on IP addresses leased from the data center, you retain your own blocks of IPv4 and/or IPv6 addresses. These blocks are then announced via BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) on the hosting provider’s physical network.

This means that while your servers are physically hosted on NovoServe's bare metal, your traffic uses IP addresses that belong exclusively to your organization. Your hosting provider announces your IP addresses on your behalf, allowing seamless connectivity while keeping you in total control of routing policies.

The Impact of IPv4 Exhaustion

The decision to bring your own IPs is increasingly driven by market economics. In November 2019, RIPE allocated its final standard /22 IPv4 blocks, officially exhausting the regional pool. This scarcity has driven the global cost of IPv4 addresses up to $40–$50 per IP on the secondary broker market.
