NovoServe Knowledge Base – Guides for Network & Dedicated Server

How Can I Test Your Network?

To help you evaluate and monitor the performance of our network, NovoServe provides two primary types of tools: a Looking Glass for route and path analysis, and dedicated Speedtest servers for measuring throughput.

NovoServe Looking Glass

Our Looking Glass is an essential tool for network diagnostics, allowing you to view routing information from the perspective of our network edge. It's perfect for troubleshooting connectivity issues and analyzing network paths.

You can access our Looking Glass to perform the following actions:

  • Ping: Tests the reachability of a host and measures round-trip latency.

  • Traceroute: Shows the specific path (hops) that data packets take to reach a destination.

  • MTR (My Traceroute): Combines the functionality of ping and traceroute into a single, more advanced diagnostic tool.

Speedtest Servers

To measure raw download speeds and overall network throughput, we operate dedicated speedtest servers in both Europe and North America.

For testing our European network performance, please use our Netherlands Speedtest Page.

For testing our North American network performance, please use our United States Speedtest Page.

Both pages provide several ways to test our network performance:

  • Test Files: Download files of various sizes directly via your browser.

  • Speedtest.net by Ookla: Run a test through the official Speedtest.net platform.

  • WiFiMan: Test using the WiFiMan Speedtest application.

  • iPerf3: For advanced command-line testing, iPerf3 endpoints for both IPv4 and IPv6 are available. The necessary commands are listed on the speedtest page.

Do you have questions about the speedtest results or would like to proceed further with a testing server? Our colleagues are glad to assist you with your questions.
