What Does the Replace Disk Email Mean?

Written by Mingzhi Lin | Oct 2, 2025 8:02:12 AM

If you have received an email alert with the subject "Replace Disk" from our automated system, it means we have proactively detected a potential or confirmed disk failure in your server

Impact and risk level

The immediate risk to your server's operation and data integrity depends entirely on its RAID configuration.

  • For RAID 0 or non-RAID Setups: This is a critical alert. A disk failure in this configuration means there is a high risk of imminent data loss and server downtime. Immediate action is strongly recommended.

  • For Redundant RAID Setups (e.g., RAID 1, 5, 6, 10): There is less chance of direct impact.

Resolve actions

Our standard procedure for resolving a hardware failure is as follows:

  • Disk Replacement: Once you authorize the intervention, our on-site engineers will physically replace the failed disk with a new disk of similar specifications.

  • Secure Data Destruction: For your security, the failed disk will be securely and permanently destroyed through a certified process by a specialized vendor. Data on the failed disk cannot be recovered.

Action required from you

To proceed with the hardware replacement, you must authorize the intervention. Please reply directly to the email alert you received. In your reply, please confirm that our engineers can schedule the disk replacement.
