How to Set Up rDNS (PTR records)?

Setting up a Reverse DNS (rDNS) record, also known as a PTR record, is a crucial step for any server that sends email or requires a high level of network identity verification. An rDNS record maps an IP address back to a hostname, which is the reverse of a standard 'A' record that maps a hostname to an IP. This is essential for improving email deliverability and is often required by many online services.

At NovoServe, you can easily configure the PTR record for your server's IP address directly through our customer portal.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Log in Log in to the NovoServe customer portal.

  2. Select Your Server Select the server that is assigned the IP address you wish to configure.

  3. Navigate to Network Information In the management section for your selected server, find and click on Network Information in the left-hand menu.

  4. Set the rDNS Record In the Network Information screen, fill in the desired rDSN for your IP-address and click Apply Configuratoin.

The rDNS changes will be automatically processed and should be active across the internet within a few minutes
